This module introduces the role of AI Business Specialists and highlights how they contribute to digital innovation across various sectors. You will explore the interdisciplinary nature of the role, which requires a deep understanding of both business processes and technological developments. Special emphasis is placed on the ability to bridge communication gaps between technical and non-technical teams. Through real-world examples, you will learn how AI solutions can be used to increase efficiency, enhance decision-making, and drive innovation in areas such as finance, manufacturing, IT services, and public administration.
In this module, you will learn how to evaluate the strategic potential of AI in an organizational context. You will explore how to monitor AI-related trends and assess their relevance for specific business environments. The course teaches you how to conduct internal and external analyses to identify opportunities and risks related to AI integration. You will gain the skills needed to contribute to the development of strategic foundations and internal governance frameworks that ensure the ethical, legal, and sustainable use of AI within your organization.
This module focuses on the practical skills required to recognize and assess potential areas for AI application. You will learn how to identify promising use cases based on current business challenges and how to analyze these from both a technical and organizational perspective. Emphasis is placed on evaluating feasibility, data availability, and strategic alignment. Building on the previous module, this section focuses on developing concrete AI-based solutions. You will learn how to translate business needs into technical concepts and work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams to design prototypes. The course guides you through the entire development process - from capturing requirements and selecting appropriate technologies to validating the feasibility and impact of a proposed solution. You will also learn how to prepare clear and compelling decision-making documentation for key stakeholders.
In this module, you will focus on the successful implementation and integration of AI solutions into existing business structures. Topics include planning and managing the rollout, aligning technical and organizational requirements, and ensuring long-term operational effectiveness. You will learn how to oversee the application of compliance standards, monitor key performance indicators, and identify areas for improvement. This module prepares you to take responsibility for ensuring that AI solutions deliver continuous value and remain adaptable to changing conditions.
The final module emphasizes the importance of change leadership in AI initiatives. Exam Admission Requirements
To qualify for the federal examination, candidates must meet one of the following:
Vocational pathway: a Swiss Federal Vocational Education and Training (VET) Diploma in ICT or a related field plus at least 2 years of professional experience in project, product, or process management.
Academic pathway: VET, Gymnasial Matura, Specialised Baccalaureate, Federal Vocational Baccalaureate, or equivalent plus at least 4 years of relevant professional experience.

To be admitted to the federal exam, candidates must hold a Swiss Federal Vocational Education and Training (VET) Diploma in ICT or a related profession and have at least two years of relevant professional experience.
Alternatively, individuals with a general, specialized, or vocational baccalaureate, or an equivalent qualification must demonstrate at least four years of professional experience in project, product, or process management.
In both cases, all required documents must be submitted and the examination fee must be paid.

The course costs a total of CHF 14’900. After you attend the federal examination, you will be refunded half of the course fee by the Swiss Federal Government, regardless of your result in the exam. The examination fee for the federal diploma will be around CHF 3,200, according to ICT Berufsbildung. This fee is invoiced by the examiner and must be paid before the November exam.
